About

Jerrod Williams serves as Assistant Professor of Legal Practice and Director of Law School Academic Success and Bar Programs. After graduating from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2002, Jerrod served as a Staff Attorney in the Fourth District of the Illinois Appellate Court, then Law Clerk in the Third District of the Illinois Appellate Court. Jerrod served briefly as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General in Springfield, where he defended Illinois employees against lawsuits by detained and imprisoned persons. Jerrod returned to serve as a Law Clerk for the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, and clerked for one year in the Illinois Supreme Court before returning to the First District. He also served as a Legal Writing Instructor at Loyola Law and, most recently, as a field supervisor for a law school experiential learning program. Jerrod has served as a volunteer judge for the annual Mandell Moot Court Competition and mentor in the NIU COL 1L mentoring program. In 2019, Jerrod received the Heritage Award from the NIU Black Law Students Association and was named NIU College of Law Alumnus of the Year.
