Judge Martinez joined the faculty in the spring semester of 2010 teaching trial advocacy. Martinez was named an associate judge in Winnebago County, IL in 2014. He possesses a B.A. in economics from Washington University, St. Louis Mo., an MBA with a concentration in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago and graduated from the College of Law at NIU in 1983. After being admitted to practice in November of 1983, Judge Martinez was employed with the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office and The Barber-Colman Company, Rockford, IL. until beginning a private practice in January of 1986. Judge Martinez practices in the areas of Criminal Law and Juvenile Law. In 2011 he was the first recipient of the 17th Circuit Professionalism and Civility Award presented by the Winnebago County Bar Association.
