Responsive Web Design

Beginning in the Fall of 2013, websites using the university's branded templates in Cascade Server will be updated with code to make the websites display optimally for the device on which they are being accessed. The design of the page is flexible so that the screen resolution, image sizes and page layout structure change based on the size of the screen.

Fluid Layouts - think of our content as water that has to flow into a number of different sized containers.

Will my website look different?

When you access the NIU website from your standard desktop computer, you won't notice a change. When you access it from a mobile phone or tablet device, you will see a site that is optimized for the mobile experience - one column of content, images that resize to fit the display and navigation buttons that are touch-friendly.

What do I need to do?

You need to make sure your content is ready to "go mobile." The best way to do that is by conducting a content inventory and audit of every single page on your website.
