LAW REVIEW SYMPOSIUM
The Mortgage Foreclosure Crisis:
A Discussion of Current Issues, Trends, and Solutions
The Northern Illinois University Law Review will hold its 21st annual symposium on April 20, 2012. The financial crisis that has swept the country over the last several years has resulted in an unprecedented number of mortgage foreclosures. This symposium will look at the causes, effects, and future impact of these foreclosures and related issues on our legal system and economy.
We are excited to host a distinguished group of professors, practicing attorneys, and members of the judiciary in a discussion regarding the current mortgage foreclosure crisis. Topics that will be covered include; mortgage foreclosure mediation programs, foreclosure defense, psychological phenomena that made consumers vulnerable to deceptive lending practices, disparate treatment in loan services and modifications, housing code compliance, and ethical concerns when working with mortgage foreclosures.
The full impact of the mortgage foreclosure crisis has yet to be seen, and will remain an important issue for years to come. It is our hope that the symposium will highlight issues important to students, practicing attorneys, and all members of our community.
We hope to see you at the event.
