Northern Law Named Among Top 40 “Best Schools for Bar Preparation” in the Country
December 21, 2016
DeKalb, Ill--Northern Illinois University College of Law has been named by preLaw magazine as one of the top 40 law schools in the United States for bar preparation based on analysis of 2013 and 2014 data.
An article in the November 18, 2016 edition of National Jurist’s preLaw magazine explains that “[t]he magazine looked at pass rates and LSAT scores for the classes of 2013 and 2014, using linear regression to predict bar pass rates based on median LSAT scores.”
The article went on to note that “The National Jurist magazine will release a report on the best schools for bar exam preparation in its Winter 2017 issue.”
The same statistical analysis of bar preparation for the July 2016 Illinois bar results shows that NIU College of Law was number one in the state of Illinois among first-time takers.
Northern Law alum Samantha Albrecht (‘16) had high praise for the programs and support that NIU offers its students and its graduates. “I knew I was never on my own,” Albrecht said. “They kept the library open for us, offered review sessions, encouraged teamwork, and kept that support system going. There’s nothing like being able to call a professor, even after classes are over, to be sure you’re getting it right.”
Northern Law’s Dean Eric Dannenmaier explained that “Bar preparation starts in the first week of the first year of law school, and our faculty knows how to get the job done.” Dr. Dannenmaier noted, “In addition to specialties in areas of law where our students want to practice, every student is given a substantial core curriculum that prepares them to become an outstanding and well-rounded lawyer. That starts with the fundamentals, with passing the bar and becoming licensed to practice.”
