Press Release

NIU Law Professor Marc Falkoff Wins Illinois Press Association
Accolade for “Criminal Convictions” Columns

June 23, 2015

Professor Marc Falkoff

DeKalb, Ill.--Marc Falkoff, NIU Law Associate Professor and Director of Faculty Development, was awarded third place in the “Original Column” category by the Illinois Press Association (IPA) for his “Criminal Convictions” columns, published by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin (CDLB).

Winners were announced during the Illinois Press Association’s and Illinois Associated Press Editors Association’s convention on June 12th in Normal, Illinois.

Falkoff has been similarly recognized for his CDLB columns on current criminal law cases and issues by the Chicago Headline Club, where he was named as a finalist for the coveted Lisagor Awards for journalism earlier this year.

NIU Law Interim Dean Mark Cordes mirrors the IPA judges’ appreciation for Falkoff’s efforts. "Marc deserves this recognition - both for his writing skills and his insights into criminal law and its practice.  We are extremely proud of his contributions.”

Cordes continues, “The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin graciously affords our faculty a mutually-beneficial opportunity to share our thoughts and leadership beyond the classroom - and fosters important connections between the highly-desirable readership of Illinois attorneys, law school faculty and students. We are all richer for the opportunity.”
