Medical Marijuana Legalization, A Growing Trend:
Social, Economic and Legal Implications

April 17, 2015

On August 1, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed HB 1, creating Illinois’s four-year medical marijuana pilot program. The program is expected to be fully functional with operating cultivation centers and dispensaries in early 2015. Illinois joins twenty-two other states and the District of Columbia that have enacted laws to legalize medical marijuana.

Scholars, practitioners, and professionals from across the country will discuss the impact of medical marijuana legalization, including comparing Illinois’s medical marijuana program with existing programs in other states.

Panels will cross both civil and criminal topics concerning medical marijuana legalization and the policy issues that arise in both areas. Civil topics will include medical marijuana’s impact on employment law, as well.

Sincerely,
