Adding or Dropping a Class

First Week of Classes

During the first week of classes in a semester, a student may add or drop a regular class themselves via MyNIU. To add/drop “Department Consent” courses, students will need to contact the Office of Budget & Records:

Second Week of Classes

During the second week of classes in a semester, a student must contact the Office of Budget & Records to add or drop a class:

Third Week or Further

In the third week of classes in a semester and beyond, a student must get approval from Associate Dean Kathy Coles, then see Julie Mahoney-Krzyzek in room 285. She will fill out paperwork and send it to the university office of Registration & Records. Any withdrawals at this point will be indicated by a “W” on student transcripts.
