Clinical Program

NIU’s rich clinical education program provides hands-on learning opportunities for students, allowing them to advocate on behalf of real clients under the supervision of clinical faculty. Through the clinic’s commitment to pro bono representation, students learn how their advocacy and hard work can dramatically improve the life circumstances of someone with little to no resources. Whether representing a teenager charged with a crime or helping a victim of domestic violence seek an order of protection, students will end the semester having a better understanding of the legal system and a greater appreciation for the impact a lawyer can have on the lives of others.
