Clinical Assistant Professor Vaughn Re-Elected as President of
Board of Directors for Prairie State Legal Services

DeKalb, Ill. - On November 10, 2012, the Board of Directors of Prairie State Legal Services re-elected Clinical Assistant Professor Wendy Vaughn to a second term as President of the Board of Directors. Professor Vaughn will serve for an additional three years. Professor Vaughn was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008 and elected to her first term as President of the Board of Directors in 2010.
Prairie State Legal Services provides free civil legal services to residents of 36 counties and operates 12 local offices in Northern and Central Illinois. Prairie State’s mission is to “provide or coordinate the delivery of high quality legal services to low-income individuals, families, and groups.” Prairie State focuses on providing legal services to meet the basic human needs of Illinois’ most vulnerable residents.
Professor Vaughn and the members of the Board of Directors oversee Prairie State Legal Services’ operations and provide fiscal oversight over the organization’s nine million dollar annual budget. Prairie State receives federal funds from the Legal Services Corporation and the Department of Justice’ Office on Violence Against Women, as well as funds from the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, the United Way, and a variety of other public and private sources.
