Mission Statement

Attorney discusses case with students

Students who have been exposed to the fundamentals of legal practice in the simulation courses have the opportunity in the Clinical Experiences to refine their practice skills and begin the transition from the classroom to practice. The Clinical Courses allow students to experience the representation of clients, or the role of a neutral, in discreet areas of practice under the direct supervision of a well-qualified attorney. Each course offers a classroom component taught by a faculty member that is designed to educate the student, as well as to guide the practice experiences. The supervising attorney also participates in the classroom component.

It is the primary objective of the Clinical Experiences to further educate students to be professionally responsible and reflective lawyers capable of providing high quality representation that is both respectful of and responsive to their clients and their interests in a diverse and changing world. Additionally, the Clinical Experiences seek to provide high quality legal services to persons who have limited access to legal representation.

Specific educational goals and objectives are defined for each experience.
