ISBA President Joseph Bisceglia Speaks at NIU College of Law
March 27, 2008
DeKalb, Ill. -- Joseph G. Bisceglia, President of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), visited the Northern Illinois University College of Law on March 26, 2008 to speak with students and faculty.
In his remarks, Mr. Bisceglia discussed some reasons for entering the practice of law and the opportunities that are made available by the ISBA. He commented that it is “critical” for students to have “a passion” for the practice of law and to choose a career path that will allow them to enjoy their participation in the profession. In addition, Mr. Bisceglia reminded students that the primary role of a lawyer is that of a problem-solver. He also stressed that ethics is the foundation upon which the nobility of the profession is built.
Mr. Bisceglia is a partner at Jenner & Block in Chicago. Long active in the ISBA, Mr. Bisceglia was elected in 2002 to its Board of Governors, the ISBA's governing body. He served as a member of its Assembly for 12 years and was chair of numerous committees. In 1997, he received the ISBA Board of Governors award for exceptional contributions to the profession.
