Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka Visits NIU College of Law

DeKalb – Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka recently addressed the Class of 2004 for Northern Illinois University College of Law.  Prior to her commencement address, Treasurer Topinka (left) and Dean LeRoy Pernell are pictured next to a display that pays tribute to members of the College of Law community who have served their country in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

Featured in the display is the American Flag and certificate dedicated to the College of Law by the son of Treasurer Topinka, United States Army Major Joseph Baar Topinka, also a 1993 alumnus of the College of Law.   The Flag was flown to the United States during Operation Enduring Freedom at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan where Major Topinka was stationed. Major Topinka currently serves as Chief of the Administrative and Civil Law Division in Fort Drum, NY.
