Professor Boudreau Quoted in Bloomberg BNA Family Law Reporter on Mediation Confidentiality

Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor Alan Boudreau was cited in a recent article in the Bloomberg BNA Family Law Reporter, published in April 2014.  The article is called "Evidence of Conduct During Mediation Is Inadmissible in Grandparent Visitation Case" and in it, Professor Boudreau offers his insights on the importance of confidentiality in family mediation.

Professor Boudreau Speaks at the Chicago Bar Association on Drafting ADR Agreements

On December 11, 2013, Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor Alan Boudreau presented to the Chicago Bar Association's Business Law - Documentation Best Practices Subcommittee on negotiating and drafting mediation and arbitration agreements. The panel focused on how appropriate alternative dispute resolution mechanisms can prevent a beneficial business arrangement from devolving into a litigation problem. Professor Boudreau discussed issues that often lead to contractual disputes, and provided guidance on how to draft mediation and arbitration agreements that meet client needs when conflict does arise. 

Professor Alan Boudreau Presents on Mediation Advocacy to Prairie State Legal Services

On October 7, 2013, Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor Alan Boudreau spoke on "Advocating for Clients in Mediation" at Prairie State Legal Services. Professor Boudreau's in-house professional development program provided an overview of mediation as it is practiced in Illinois and then focused on mediation advocacy skills to help clients achieve their mediation goals. As foreclosure mediation is expanding around Illinois, the Foreclosure Mediation Clinic at the College of Law and Prairie State Legal Services have been working together to provide additional legal resources to struggling homeowners.
