NIU Law Alumni assisting first year students as part of the first year mentoring program.

Mentoring Program

Dean Jennifer Rosato and John Monical (’94), Chair of the NIU Law Board of Visitors, are excited to announce the continuation of the Mentoring Program for first-year students at the NIU College of Law.  This program allows alumni and friends of the College of Law to provide both professional and personal assistance to our incoming students during their first year of studies.

As we all know, law school is a significant transition for students, with new ways of learning, thinking, speaking, and working. This transition can be even more challenging to our students who are the first in their families to go to law school and do not have someone to ask questions of along the way.  Even a small time commitment from a mentor to this program will mean a great deal to a first-year student.  The mentor’s professional and personal contact will go a long way toward making a student’s first year rewarding and successful.

We sincerely hope that you will become a Mentor.  Please take this wonderful opportunity to give invaluable assistance to the College and a future fellow alum.

If you have any questions concerning the program, contact Greg Anderson, Director of Career Opportunities & Development at or 815-753-9604.  Please respond as soon as possible so we may be able to plan appropriately for this year’s incoming class.
