Whitney Francisco

Whitney Francisco

About Whitney: For as long as I can remember, I have always been the problem solver amongst my peers. I have a passion for interpersonal communication and using those skills to solve conflicts and disputes, which is what pushed me to pursue a career in law. I’m interested in becoming a corporate general counsel, as well as a chief ethics officer, and later becoming a judge.  While I was an undergrad, I was Secretary for Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association Honor Society, and Director of Public Relations for Helping Hands Community Service Group. In my free time, I enjoy visiting my family and hanging out with my friends.

Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience:  During the summer of 2014, I had the opportunity to intern at the Law Office of Marc D. Alberts, P.C., a personal injury firm in Chicago. I had great experiences attending case management calls, observing witness depositions, and working on complaints and answers.

Why did you choose NIU Law? I know from firsthand experience that NIU Law will provide me with a solid legal education because my mother graduated from NIU Law and encouraged me to get my law degree here as well. Also, I was drawn to NIU Law’s affordability for a sound legal education, as well as the small-by-design class sizes that make NIU Law feel like an extended family.

What activities are you involved in? I am now the Graduate Assistant for the NIU Law Admissions and Financial Aid office and also the Treasurer for the Black Law Student Association. I’m still interested in joining other organizations, such as the Sports and Entertainment Law Society.
