Alexis Aranda

Alexis Aranda

About Alexis:  In college, I worked as a tutor for after school programs such as the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County and the Teen Reach Program at the Chicago Math and Science Academy. After law school, I plan to take the Illinois state bar exam, stay in the Waukegan area and work at the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience:  For the past three and a half years, I have worked as a legal assistant at Riewer & Collins, LLC., a family law firm.  I have also interned at the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office. They are both such different and great experiences and I have learned so much! While at NIU Law, I also did the Juvenile Justice Clinic and I learned a lot about criminal defense work.

Why did you choose NIU Law? NIU Law is helping me realize my goals through the courses and organizations they offer. NIU Law’s trial classes and programs were most attractive to me, since NIU Law has a lot of alumni working as Assistant State’s Attorneys and Judges. Also, the small class sizes and the affordability of a great legal education were also factors I took into consideration.

What activities are you involved in? I am a member and past President of the Latino Law Student Association, the Federalist Society, the Trial Advocacy Society and the Street Law program. I also participated in the Trial Advocacy competition and the Moot Court competition.
