613 Children in the Legal System (3)

An examination of the juvenile court system, its history, philosophy, and current operations. Emphasis will be on the substantive law of juvenile court jurisdiction (delinquency, child neglect and abuse, termination of parental rights) and the procedural rights of juveniles and all other parties involved in juvenile court proceedings.

Prerequisite: Constitutional Law II (600)
Recommended: Criminal Procedure (601)

This is an elective course. Most, though not all, electives are offered each year. Students may expect to have at least one opportunity to subscribe to all electives at some time in their three years in the college.
