Terea Turner was named Assistant Director of Admissions & Financial Aid for the Northern Illinois University College of Law effective May 2013.
Prior to NIU Law, Turner worked in an administrative role for the North Carolina Central University School of Law for two years, joining the staff in 2011 as a Grants Manager. The following year she moved on to recruitment work, gaining important experience and perspective on law school admissions. Before NCCU, Turner worked for the United States Department of Labor in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on equal employment opportunity law. She began her professional career in 2008, practicing business, entertainment and employment law in Los Angeles, California.
As assistant director, Turner works with the Admissions and Financial Aid Director to raise awareness of the College of Law, advance its mission of academic excellence and diversity, and to help proliferate legal educational opportunities to students both in the Chicago area and across the country. Turner coordinates recruitment along with the evaluation and scholarship allotment for all College of Law candidates. In addition, she is responsible for marketing the Law School at recruitment events across the country. She also assists and counsels prospective students on all aspects of the admissions process including loans, residency requirements, and housing.
