Biography
William Monat is Regency Professor Emeritus of Public Administration at Northern Illinois University and an adjunct professor of public administration. He previously taught at Wayne State University, Pennsylvania State University, and the City University of New York.
He was executive assistant to the Governor of Michigan and director of budget and finance for the Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. He served as chancellor of the Illinois Board of Regents. He was president, academic vice president and provost, and chair of Department of Political Science at Northern Illinois University. Monat was serving as president of NIU when it acquired the College of Law.
Dr. Monat also served as academic vice president of Baruch College of the City University of New York and as consultant to the United States Department of Labor, the United States Office of Economic Opportunity, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Illinois Governor's Commission of Science and Technology and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Graduate School of Political Management in New York City and Washington D.C.
He earned his Ph.D. degree at the University of Minnesota with a principal focus on public administration.
