Student Conduct Board Members are empowered through the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management to hear alleged violation of the NIU Student Code of Conduct, determine if a violation occurred, based on the preponderance of the evidence standard, and impose sanctions as appropriate.
Faculty members interested in serving on the Conduct Board should speak with their faculty senate representative or supervisor.
Staff members interested in serving on the Conduct Board should speak with their supervisor.
Conduct System Advisor-
Student Conduct System Advisors are volunteer, students faculty and staff who have a desire to assist students through the conduct process. Advisors can assist accused students or victims throughout the conduct process. Advisors provide their advisee information about the conduct process and may provide advice about options presented to involved students. Advisors may not speak on behalf of their advisee. Advisors are provided training by the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct.
Conduct system advisors, who are students, are encouraged to enroll in the CAHE 493 (Section 3) course. During the fall 2014 semester, this class will meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. in McMurray 301.
