Join us as we paddle the scenic North Branch of the Kishwaukee River near Milford, Illinois. The canoe trip we offer is on the Kishwaukee River. Your adventure starts at Baumann Park in Cherry Valley and ends at Atwood Park in New Milford, Illinois. It is an 8 1/2 mile ride that is very enjoyable, as the "Kish" has a lot to offer. The "Kish" is rated as a Class A river by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This means it has a significant number of species of fish that are silt intolerant. The "Kish" has many opportunities to see various wildlife along its shores and in its waters. You may see white tailed deer, great blue herons, osprey, river otters, beavers, and reptiles during your adventure. If you especially enjoy watching birds, this is the place to be. Of the 299 species of birds that regularly occur in Illinois, 262 can be found along and around the shores of the Kishwaukee River. Enjoy a relaxing break before finals. We will be hiking at Castle Rock State Park and practicing yoga in a scenic open space. Christine Lagattolla, a group fitness yoga instructor, will be guiding you in a restorative session. A nutritious vegetarian lunch, instruction, yoga mat (if needed), and transportation is included.
