Neanderthal

A Previous Permanent Exhibit

This exhibition examined many aspects of Homo sapiens neanderthalensis. One section of the display contained facts and illustrations about Neanderthals. Another section focused on comparative anatomy between Neanderthals and Modern Humans, including the hyoid bone and skull morphology.

The exhibit also included a section highlighting Neanderthal cave sites, including cave paintings in Spain and France, as well as Kebara Cave in Israel. This section of the exhibit featured a life-sized, interactive replica of a cave site.

This exhibit closed in August 2010.
