College of Business
NIU's College of Business is nationally recognized in academic and industry circles for its teaching, research, and public service. The college is distinguished by its ability to narrow the gap between thinking and achieving. Among the ways the college demonstrates this is by providing students with broad academic excellence combined with hands-on learning situations in actual organizations. Among its many achievements, NIU's College of Business is recognized for its active engagement in the Chicago area business community as well as for its nationally and world-renowned faculty, the majority of whom served as business professionals before earning their PhDs.
Businessweek magazine again has named the NIU College of Business to its list of top undergraduate business schools in the nation and, for the third consecutive year, placed the school among the elite for integrating ethics across the curriculum. NIU's business college ranks second in the ethics category, climbing one spot from 2011 and returning to its perch of 2010.
NIU was named among U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges 2013" for its Undergraduate Business Program. The program has been ranked among the best for nearly two decades.
Public Accounting Report's 29th Annual Professor's Survey ranked NIU's undergraduate and graduate accountancy programs among the Top 10 best programs in the nation.
The NIU College of Business has
achieved continuous accreditation from the AACSB International since 1969 and is among the top schools
of business accredited for business and accounting. Less than 5 percent of business colleges worldwide
have earned AACSB accreditation.
In a 2010 BusinessWeek survey of business school students, most gave the college an “A” rating with regard to how well it integrates ethics into the business curriculum. NIU ranked second in the country, trailing only the University of Notre Dame.
