Through the College's Engineers in Residence program, graduate students partner with regional companies to gain valuable professional experience while still in school.
The College boasts three state-of-the-art labs sponsored by industry leaders: the Baxter Reliability Lab, the Mitutoyo Metrology Lab and the Automation Direct Lab.
Home to NIU’s National Safety Education Center (NSEC), one of 24 OSHA-licensed centers across the country. NSEC provides valuable OSHA training for general industry and construction.
The College's Supermileage Team took 1st place among U.S. universities in the 2010 SAE International Supermileage Competition and third place overall.
Students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering boast a pass rate of 91 percent on the Fundamentals of Engineering (EF) exam.
